Marlon Brando for Beginners on Lubbolk Satellite TV
Do you find yourself at a loss when someone brings up a conversation involving a famous movie star? Do you feel guilty for not knowing whether it was Pacino or De Niro in Raging Bull or Scent of a Woman? If so, you are not alone, but you will have the chance to catch up on great stars like Marlon Brando and others if you have satellite TV in Lubbolk. It starts with the big premium HD movie channels, but it moves on to include a lot of the smaller players as well. Here is Brando for beginners.
1. A Streetcar Named Desire. To start with Brando, you ought to start at the beginning and, in the opinion of many, the best. Streetcar made him a star and sex symbol around the country and around the world. Screaming ‘Stella!' at the top of his lungs and having his shirt torn off, Brando set the standard for modern movie hunks who could act. The thing about his performance is the intensity, the commitment. See it in HD on the Turner Classic Movies film network.
2. The Wild One. This picture was another sensation in the 1950's, as it revolved around a band of motorcycle outlaws who rolled into a quiet California town one day and made everyone feel terrorized. Brando is the leader of the pack and it turned out to be one of the few films he regretted doing later, as he didn't like the way it sensationalized the bike gangs. It's a far cry from the responses you will get from today's actors. Brando was really on a mission to change the world back then.
3. The Godfather. After becoming notoriously difficult and expensive to work with, Brando was persona non grata in Hollywood. How could the most famous actor of his generation be on the outside looking in? It was happening, but when he heard about the role of The Godfather, he decided enough was enough. Brando's screen test convinced Coppola and the studio chiefs that there was only one man who was capable of playing the role. Check this film out uncut on Lubbolk HD film networks.
4. Last Tango in Paris. For Brando at his most experimental and controversial, see this Bertolucci film from 1972. Getting an ‘X' rating was no laughing matter in those days, but Last Tango got it and live with it. Brando truly takes center stage and makes one of the great statements of his legendary career. A lot of chances were taken, a lot of psyches were damaged and a great work of art was made. See this film on HBO in full HD.
5. Apocalypse Now. If Brando was considered difficult before, he was a real ‘horror' by the time he made it to Apocalypse. Perhaps Coppola trusted him after his terrific showing in The Godfather. Showing up overweight and oblivious to his duties in the role, Brando nonetheless carried his trademark intensity into battle and made it work. Check out this final film on the Brando for beginners list.
